The Institute for Children, Poverty, and Homelessness (ICPH) invites you to submit breakout session proposals for the Beyond Housing 2020 Conference. Conference sessions will provide an opportunity to build bridges across the field of family homelessness, helping colleagues from all backgrounds to imagine new and dynamic ways to reduce the impact of poverty and homelessness on children and families. Our goal is to bring family and child homelessness into focus by promoting evidence-based dialogue about ICPH’s four pillars of education, health & well-being, housing & shelter, and community.
Beyond Housing welcomes a diverse group of stakeholders who are exploring new methods to prevent or mitigate the impact of homelessness on families and children. Homeless families must be actively considered in housing, education, employment, domestic violence, health, mental health, and economic policy conversations. Solutions to family and child homelessness and poverty are most effective when developed in the local community and when the experiences of homeless families and children are considered every step of the way.
Submission Guidelines:
We seek a variety of individual presenters and panels. Presenters should be authorities on their topics either through lived experience, training, or expertise. All sessions should be engaging and actively address how audience members can use the information presented.
- Beyond Housing stresses topics surrounding family homelessness and childhood poverty. This conference will be a focused conversation about families with children.
- Only fully completed proposals will be considered.
- All proposals must be completed and submitted through our conference website e-form. If you experience any problems, please email Beyondhousing@ICPHusa.org for assistance.
- Most sessions are 90 minutes in length including Q&A.
- Please note in your proposal if you do not think your presentation will fill 90 minutes. Availability for 45 minute sessions is limited.
- Sessions will be held on either Thursday, January 16, or Friday, January 17, 2020.
- All accepted submissions will be notified by September 16, 2019.

About the Conference Sessions:
In addition to plenary sessions and site visits, the conference includes concurrent sessions, interactive workshops, and panel discussions. These sessions will address and provide actionable solutions to unique topics and themes tailored to the needs of the participants.
The session format is flexible, and we encourage proposals that are interactive and explore ICPH’s four pillars of education, health & well-being, housing & shelter, and community from an innovative point of view.
