Asthma Awareness Month 2019 Notes

Unless otherwise noted, data are weighted to be representative of high school students in AR, CA, DE, HI, ID, IL, KS, KY, ME, MT, NM, NC, PA, VA, WI, and the school districts of Los Angeles, CA, Oakland, CA, New York City, NY, Palm Beach, FL, Philadelphia, PA, and DeKalb County, GA.

Note: Race/ethnicity analysis does not include Hawaii due to a difference in the way this question was asked on the survey.

The estimate for homeless students in Los Angeles should be interpreted with caution due to small sample size, making the estimate potentially unreliable. Arkansas, California, Delaware, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, and Virginia estimates should be interpreted with caution due to 95% Confidence Interval half-widths greater than 10, making the estimates potentially unreliable. Delaware, Kansas, and Los Angeles, and Philadelphia estimates have p-values greater than 0.05 and are not statistically significant.

The estimate for Maine’s asthmatic homeless students who missed school should be interpreted with caution due to a 95% Confidence Interval half-width greater than 10, making the estimate potentially unreliable.
